Edward was the son of Henry and Ann Carr.
CSA enlisted as Pvt. @ Santee, SC Mar.25,1862 in Co.E, 5th Cav. in Ferguson's Reg.; he also served in Co. B, St.James Mounted Riflemen in Byrd's Batt. under Capt.L. A. Whilden. He is listed on the Muster Roll from Sep.10 1862 until Apr.1864. Edward was wounded and admitted to Wayside Hosp., Gen. Hosp. #9, Richmond, VA May 29,1864, diagnosed as "Disease USR Thight (thigh) M-B". Edward's right leg was amputated (Civil War Records, SC. tate Archives).
He was married to Ann Rebecca Parler 26 Nov 1865 in South Carolina.
