A spring storm has carried a gentle soul home for a sweet reunion with many loved ones. B. Maurice Smith was released from his pain on March 5, 2009 surrounded by his loving family.

Joyfully born to Driver Edwin Smith and Vella Billings on January 19, 1927 in Vernal, Utah.

Maurice served in the Navy and then attended BYU, where he met the bride of his youth Delma Parker. Married in December 1949 and sealed in the Manti Temple in May 1957. Together they brought six children into this world.

After graduating from the U of U Maurice taught German at Olympus High and later taught at Bonneville Jr. High School. He retired from teaching and became a carrier for USPS.

Delma prematurely left this mortal realm in 1974. Two years later the flame of eternal love was ignited once more when he met Alma Stokes. They married in November of 1976; later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

Maurice served in many capacities in the LDS Church. The highlight was serving a mission to Germany with his wife Alma from 1992-1993. He was always generous in helping the missionary effort, a cause close to his heart. Maurice also loved time spent serving in the Bountiful Temple for nine years as an ordinance worker.

He is survived by his loving wife Alma, Sister Miriam Lenz (Robert); children Maurice Jr. (Lilian), Evelyn Perry (Claron), Rhonda Robison (Reed), Alicia Hermansen (Val), Erich (Ludy), Melodie Chase (John); 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grand children. Maurice is also survived by Alma's children; Brent Hadlock (Connie), Karen Seaman (John), Dean Hadlock, Dion Hadlock, Stephen Hadlock (Althea), Ann Horan (Jeff) and Christine Jenne (Stan); grandson and caregiver Michael Hadlock, 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grand children.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2009 at Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 North 400 East, where friends may call on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services.
Interment: Redwood Memorial Estates Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville.
