Mrs.Jack (Nell) Muirhead ,Sr.

Eastland-Mrs. Jack (Nell) Muirhead Sr.,95,passed away at the Valley View Nursing Home Friday, August 15, 2003 at approximately 10 a.m.

She was born March 27, 1908 in Gorman, Texas, she was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church, having been a member since 1929. She was a longtime Sunday school teacher.

During the decades of the '40s and '50s she was an active member of the Civic League and was much sought after as a book reviewer, having reviewed books on Sam Houston and Enrico Caruso, the great Italian opera singer.

She loved God and her family with all her heart.

Her father, the late W.B. Reeves was a Tennessee lawyer who came to Texas and tought school, where he married her mother.

She married Jack Muirhead, Sr. in 1929. He was a Buick/Pontiac dealer for 40 years here and was Mayor City of Eastland during the construction of Eastland Memorial Hospital and Lake Leon.

They were the parents of two sons, Jack, Jr. of Eastland and Joe who passed away two years ago.

Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2003 with Edwards Funeral Home in charge. Burial will be in the Eastland Cemetery beside her husband.

Survivors include her son, Jack Muirhead, Jr. of Eastland; grandchildren, Kathy Jo, Kelly, Joe Bob and John; and a number of nieces and nephews.
