Roy Lenton Strickland was the son of William Pearley Strickland (1883-1960) and Fannie Cleveland Powell (1887-1926). He was born in Wakulla County on 6 Feb 1907.

Roy was preceded in death by his brother, William E Strickland in 1911 & D W Strickland in 1922; his mother in 1926; his father in 1960; and his brother, Ross M Strickland (1905-1963).

When Roy died on 8 Oct 1970, he was buried in Zion Hill Cemetery, where his father; grandparents, Zachariah & Roxie Powell; and brothers, William & D W Strickland and many extended family members had been interred. He was survived by his sister, Bannah Strickland Vickers Hickman (1904-1991) and brother, Tony Finnon "Tad" Strickland (1912-2005). They are now buried in Zion Hill also. He was also survived by his sister, Ethel Cleveland Strickland Raker (1909-1974), who is now buried in Ivan Cemetery in Wakulla County, and by his sister, Florence Strickland Pervis (1914-1976), (burial location unknown). He had two more sisters now deceased, Elva Strickland Thomas (1908-1987), buried in Gillette Cemetery in Manatee County and Danie Strickland Pervis (1916-1999), buried in Jennings Lake Cemetery in Gilchrist County, FL.
