Linda May Monteson

January 09, 2009 07:51 pm

— Linda May Monteson, 1985 Parkdale Ave., Hermitage, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Thursday (1-8-09) in her home after an extended illness. She was 59.
Mrs. Monteson was born May 17, 1949, in Sharon to Edward and Rose Raykie Gladysz.
She was a 1967 graduate of Farrell High School and was employed by J.C. Penney Co. in DuBois and Hermitage.
Linda appreciated all aspects of nature and especially enjoyed hiking through the woods and trails, as well as fishing in her favorite spots. However, she found her greatest joy when tending to her dogs, feeding birds and flower gardening.
Her most treasured experience was when she reached a level of trust with a wild female deer that would feed from her hand. This same deer would later return with her fawns and they too would accept food from her.
On Oct. 14, 1967, she married Philip Bruce Monteson. They enjoyed 41 years of marriage and cherished every moment of their lives together.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by: her beloved son, Matthew Monteson and his loving fiancée Christina Gall, DuBois; Linda's father, Edward Gladysz, Hermitage; and a sister, Tina West and her husband Willis, McDonald, Ohio. She also leaves her beloved nieces, Laura and Dianna West. Her best friend, Clancy, the dog, also survives.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Raykie Gladysz.
