MILTON-FREEWATER -- Lifetime Milton-Freewater area resident Gilbert F. Kralman, 92, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at the Odd Fellows Home in Walla Walla. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Central Christian Church, 66 S. Palouse, in Walla Walla, with concluding service and interment to follow at Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens, Myra Road, Walla Walla.
One of six children, Mr. Kralman was born Sept. 18, 1910, in the Fruitvale District near Milton-Freewater, to Fredrick and Cora Buroker Kralman. He attended Fruitvale School and graduated from McLoughlin Union High School in 1929, then began farming with his father.
On Sept. 10, 1932, he married Hannah Aichele at Walla Walla. In 1945, they moved to Triangle Corner where they owned and operated the Triangle Service Station. He later worked for the Ferndale School District driving school bus, and for Mel Lyon and at Lamb-Weston. From the late 1960s until the early 1990s, the Kralmans operated an adult foster care from their home. Upon retirement they enjoyed traveling and entertaining family and friends.
Survivors include his daughter, Marge Roff of Milton-Freewater; sons, Norman and Howard, both of Milton-Freewater, and Larry of Milwaukie; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
