Mrs. Mary Sexton died at the residence of William Isaac Sherrill, in Salt Creek township, recently, aged about 94 years. Deceased was born in Bath County, Kentucky, and was married in that county to James Sexton about 1820. They moved to Greene county, Ind., about 1830 where they resided several years when they moved to Salt Creek tp. where Mr. Sexton died near 20 years ago. Seven children are still living--three daughters and four sons. Mrs. Sexton was well respected by all, and was a member of the church and she was buried at Friendship graveyard."

Bath County, Ky. James Sexton married Polly Staton, 11 Jan 1822, permission from Ruban (Reuben) Staton, Benjamin S. Cock was the bondsman. The daughter of Rueben Staten.

NOTE: James C. Sexton was the biological son of William Sexton (b. abt 1778), married Elizabeth "Polly" Cock in Grayson Co. Virginia. James C. Sexton was NOT one of the supposed boys adopted by Hannah and Isaac Sexton. One of James daughters was named for his grandmother Comfort that he knew as a child.
