MIRIAM GAYNELLE CHILCOTE
Mount Union, June 13 –
Miriam Gaynelle Chilcote, the only child of Dewey E and Ethel M. Cornelius Chilcote, died in the J C Blair Memorial hospital Tuesday evening, June 11, 1935 at 9:35 after an illness of twelve days following an accident. Death was caused by tetanus. In company with her parents, the little girl was spending Memorial Day at the farm home of her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Chilcote, Smith Valley. While playing with her little cousins, she cut a gash on her leg. She was immediately brought home and had medical care daily but serious complications arose which necessitated her removal the hospital where she passed away. Miriam Gaynelle Chilcote was born in Mount Union December 3, 1927. She was a bright and winsome child and her death has brought great sorrow to her parents and grandparents as well as to many friends. The little girl attended the public schools and was active in the Sunday school of the First Methodist church. She always had a part in the children's services of the church. Along with the parents the little girl is survived by her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Sherman Cornelius of Mount Union and Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Chilcote of Smith Valley. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2:30 from the late home on West Halley street, in charge of Rev. R Skyles Oyler, DD, of the First Methodist Church. Interment will be made in the Bowman Chapel Cemetery in Smith Valley.
