Mrs. Elsie E. Lathrop, 54, resident of Ottumwa for the past 35 years, died at 7:15 p.m. Thursday at the home of her nephew, W.H. Millard, 309 North Madison Avenue.

She was the daughter of John W. and Malina Sales and was born in Davis county April 14, 1889. She was a member of the Christian church south of Blakesburg. She was married to Frank Lathrop May 25, 1908, who preceded her in death September 30, 1940. She also was preceded in death by an infant daughter, her father, a brother and a sister.

Survivors include two sons, Harvey H. Lathrop, with the navy overseas, and Ralph L. Lathrop, Madison Wis.; three granchildren; her mother, Mrs. Manda Sales, Ottumwa; two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Hartley and Mrs. Mayme Hasting, both of Ottumwa, and six brothers, Walter J., John, Frank and George Sales all of Ottumwa, and Harry A. Sales, Danville, Ill., and William R. Sales, Hammond, Ind.

The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel awaiting completion of arrangements.

Lathrop Funeral
Short funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Lathrop, who died Thrusday evening at the home of her nephew, W.H. Millard of 309 North Madison avenue, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from the Johnson funeral chapel, and at 2:30 from the Pentecostal Church of God on Church street. The Rev. A.D. McClure will be in charge and burial will be in Shaul cemetery.

The pallbearers will be: Wilbur Shields, Claude Albright, William Bray, Burl Finely, Louis Finley and Henry Succhting.
