Martha Minnie Fick Biehle

Martha Minnie Fick Biehle was born on May 23, 1910, at home in McDade, Bastrop County, Texas. Her parents were Henry and Annie (Joseph) Fick. Martha married Carl Martin Biehle on December 27, 1925 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church at Warda, Texas.

Martha peacefully went to be with her Savior at her home on November 10, 2008 with her family at her bedside.

Martha's life was like a history book. She had the experience of horse and buggy days, driving a Model T, getting an electric washing machine, a television, watching her children send e-mail on the computer and using a cell telephone. Martha's passion was her flower garden and she received the Smithville Garden Club's Yard of the Month award several times. She was known in Smithville as the "flower lady" across the street from school. Martha enjoyed working in her yard and this summer she achieved her goal of having a beautiful flower garden even though she had to get up early to water her flowers before it got too hot.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, in May of 1967. After his death, she moved to town in Smithville, and learned how to survive alone by babysitting and sewing. She never had a challenge that she could not overcome. Martha was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Smithville for over 60 years.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, ten sisters and brothers, two grandsons, Dennis Karl Synatschk and John Wachsmann.

Survivors are her five children and their spouses, Ervin and Lorine Biehle, La Grange; Alma and Martin Kilian, Winchester; Esther and Freddie Synatschk, Bryan; Doris and Charles Reagan, Austin; and Margaret Wachsmann and Glenn Richter, Georgetown.

Other survivors are 14 grandchildren: Martin Biehle, Jo Ann Synnott, Garry Synatschk, Kathy Pesl, Rickie Synatschk, Connie Beck, Donna Galban, Sandy Hendrix, Dennis Kevin Synatschk, Jason Synatschk, Deborah Nance, Sue Walling, Patricia Silva, and Mary Wachsmann.
