Earl Tunis Apker, beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend
was taken into the Lord's arms on May 14, 2003. Earl was born in Duvall, WA
on June 1, 1914, but spent most of his younger years in Oso, graduating from
Arlington High School in 1932 as valedictorian of his class. He married
Josephine Danner in June of 1935 and they shared 66 years together. He was a
machinist and worked at Sumner Iron Works in Everett from 1942-53. He
moved to Scott Paper Co. in 1953 and retired in 1979. After retirement he and
his wife enjoyed gardening at their Marysville home and he volunteered with
the Marysville City Police Senior Patrol. Throughout his adult life Earl served
in numerous leadership roles at Central Lutheran Church in Everett. For the
past five years he served as an Elder at Atonement Lutheran Church in
Arlington. Earl will be remembered for his strength, his graciousness and
kindness, his integrity, values and principles, and his wonderful sense of
humor. He was a quiet and humble man who loved his family and his Lord
and Savior. Earl was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Ruth, his
brothers, Howard, Harvey, and Otho, and by his wife, Josephine. He leaves his
children: Wesley (Cathy), Joann (Rich), and Gordon (Janet). He also leaves
nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and numerous nephews and
nieces. Graveside Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, at
Cypress Lawn, Everett; the Memorial Service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at
Atonement Free Lutheran Church in Arlington, WA. Memorials may be given
to Evangelical Reformed Church, Tacoma, WA. or to Atonement Free
Lutheran Church.
