Son of Edward E. Krenek and Vlasta Balcar. Served in World War II with the General Headquarters Signal Section in the Southwest Pacific Theater of Operation. Received two Bronze Stars and the Occupation of Japan Medal. Life Member of Capital City Post 8787. Served as State Commander of the Department of Texas, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, during 1964-1965 and earned honors as an All American Department Commander. Received the J.T. Rutherford Award as the most outstanding Department Officer. Wwned and operated Mid-Tex Sales and Service for over 50 years and several other businesses. Hobbies included ranching, hunting and spending time in the outdoors. Preceded in death by his parents, daughter Susan Evans, son Jay Krenek, two siblings John and sister Gardenia. Survivors include his son, John Krenek of Austin; daughters, Karen Krenek Sasser of Austin, Sheri Krenek Anderson and husband Steve of Bryan, and Mary Krenek of Austin; three grandchildren, Heather Lehman, Sean Krenek and Seth Markavich; and two great-grandchildren.
