Spicy was 17 years, 3 months, 25 days old at death. She had female health issue which she was borne with. Her mother, Eliz Carline Rippey-Slayton died May 16, 1872 in Tennessee, (probably Sumner County,)when Spicy was 3 years old. Her father Charles Henry Slayton remarried, Nancy(Nanny) A Robertson, August 4, 1872. and Spicy was raised by her step-mother. Spicy's younger sister, Mary Caldonia Slayton-Coe, born October 08, 1871-Tennessee, died October 19, 1906-Wood County, Texas is my grandmother. The family was in the 1880 Dallas County, Texas census...and in Rockwall County, Texas when Spicy died in 1886. Charles Henry Slayton father of Spicy, purchased land in Wood County, Texas. when, _____ ?, and sold the property in 1897 because he had become sickly and wanted to take his family back to Sumner County, Tennessee before he died. I do not know all, or how many were in the traveling party, but my dad, Charles Henry Coe, b 1893-d 1966, was about 4 years old and he and his family were in the traveling party. He was the oldest child of A.P. Willard and Mary Caldonia Slayton Coe. They traveled as far as Clarksville, Red River county, Texas which was about 87 miles from Wood County, Texas. This is where Charles Henry Slayton died on December 24, 1897. The family buried him in Red River county. They had to stay in Red River and wait until my dad's only sister, Lillian Maybell Coe was born January 28, 1898, then they returned to Wood County, Texas.

The Red River County Courthouse burned and they have no birth or death records to share with me. His death is recorded in the Texas Death Records 1890-1976.
