Newspaper notice read.....IN MEMORY of MARY E. BINKLEY DIED.- April 25th, 1895, Mrs. Mary E. Binkley, aged ninety-three years, six months and ten days. Only a few words to tell of the passing away of another old pioneer. One by one they are being called home, but it was the passing away of a christian, from death into eternal life. "After life's fitful fever she sleeps well." Mary E. Binkley, was born in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, October 15th, 1802. Coming from there with her parents to Perry County, Ohio where in 1819 she was married to John Binkley, and about fifty years ago they moved to Sandusky County, Ohio, where she has resided ever since, with the exception of a few years in which they had moved to Allen County, Ohio, at which place her husband died, about eighteen or twenty years ago. She then moved back to Fremont with her daughter, Mrs. Lydie Albert, where she has since resided and at whose home she died. She was the mother of fourteen children, six sons and eight daughters, nine of whom survive her, viz Michael, Samuel, Aaron, John and Christopher, also Mrs. Lydie Albert, Mrs. Margaret Carr, Mrs. Hannah Carnicom, Mrs. Mary Carnicom. She left ninety-eight grandchildren, two hundred and thirty great-grandchildren, and twenty-five great-great grandchildren, making a total of three hundred and fifty-three grand,great grand and great-great grand-children. One sister and three brothers survive her, besides a host of other relatives. It was said of her that she had more living descendants than any other woman in the county. She was confirmed in the German Lutheran Church,and has been faithful to that belief. The funeral was preached in the St.John's German Lutheran Church, at Fremont, on Sunday morning, April 28th, 1895, in German and English. After which she was taken to the Muskalonge Cemetery, and laid beside her Father and Mother, her husband being buried in Allen County, where he died. Rest in peace.
