Daughter of Thomas Battersby and Martha Cheatham. Married John Kay April 1829 in Prescot, Lancashire, England. There she ran a "Public House." She was a teritorial pioneer accompanied by her seven children (the oldest son having previously emigrated). She sailed from Liverpool on the ship "John M Wood" in the Robert Campbell Company leaving 12 March 1854 and arriving in New Orleans 2 May 1854. The Robert L Campbell company arrived in Salt Lake City 28 Oct 1854. The family first lived in Payson then later moved to Mona. Margaret was the first midwife in Mona.
