Native of Decatur Dies At Fort Wayne
D. M. Archer, 73, a native of Decatur , died at 2:30 a.m. today at the Lutheran hospital in Fort Wayne following a stroke at his home at midnight. He resided at 3807 S. Barr street in Fort Wayne .
The son of Elmer E. and Elezann Roe-Archer, he was born in Decatur January 30, 1889. He was married to Pearle McGill, who survives. The couple had no children.
A retired GR&I flagman and conductor, Archer worked more than 30 years on the railroad. He moved to Fort Wayne about 38 years ago. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the DAV.
Two brothers, Lloyd, of Columbia City , and I. W. Archer, of Fort Wayne , survive in addition to the widow. One brother, and two sisters are deceased.
Services will be held at McComb & Sons funeral home in Fort Wayne at 2 p.m. Thursday, with burial in the Decatur cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until time of the funeral.
