Dorothy Kathryn (Green) Wright of Worcester died on August 20th at the home of her daughter Elizabeth surrounded by her loving family. On August 14th she celebrated her eighty-fifth birthday. Dorothy leaves her five children, Suzanne Smith of Ashford, CT; Cheryl Murphy and her husband Joe of Brewster, MA; Thomas C. Wright of Webster, MA; Elizabeth Browning and her husband Ralph of Worcester, with whom she lived; and Brian Wright and his wife JoAnn of Spencer, MA. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren include: Jason, Sarah and Jessica Smith; Jay, Lea, Paige and Aiden Murphy; Patrick and Kristin Murphy; Brendan, Kirsten, James and Declan Murphy; Sean, Elizabeth and Morgan Murphy; Thomas, Stacey, Elizabeth, Kristen and Alexandre Wright; Katherine and Elizabeth Browning; Andrew and Emily Wright; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Eubert T. (Buster) Wright, her sister Eileen Johnson, and her granddaughter Lynne Wright Browning. Dorothy was born in Worcester the daughter of Charles F. and Catherine T. (Tiernan) Green and lived in Worcester her entire life. She attended the Worcester Public Schools and graduated from the former Commerce High School. During World War II Dorothy worked as a drafts woman at Norton Company and a nurse's aide. In 1945, she married "Buster" at St. Peter's Church.

Dorothy's quick wit and loving personality embraced all those with whom she came in contact. Her life was centered around her family where she nourished them physically, mentally, and spiritually. She was very proud of the many accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.

Dorothy was a founding member of the St. Joan of Arc Church where she was the president of the Woman's Guild for many years. She continued to be an active Woman's Guild and Legion of Mary member at St. Christopher's Church. She also volunteered her time as a Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader, and Room Mother for her children and grandchildren. Dorothy had many interests and talents including knitting, cooking, and playing cards for over forty years with her long time friends. Upon her retirement Dorothy was honored by the Worcester Public School Committee for her 37 years of dedicated service as a crossing guard for the children of Norback Ave School. She treated each child with dignity and respect.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 22 at Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday August 23 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at St John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Summit Elder Care, 277 East Mountain Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
