Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Seasongood-Marshall Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fred Schreiber of Effingham officiating. Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery.
Mr. Stroud was born September 30, 1917, in Rockwood, a son of Ura and Docia (Burkenheimer) Stroud.
On January 10, 1946 he married (Jennie Zevenbergen) Wheatley.
Mr. Stroud was a sheet metal worker. A veteran of the United States Navy of World War II, and was a member of the American Legion No. 628 at Dieterich. He was also a member of the Wheeler Masonic Lodge, the Danville Consistory and Anaid Shrine of East St. Louis.
Surviving are his wife, Jennie; his father Ura Stroud; three sons, Charles C. of Effingham, Henry Leroy of Manteno and Jay Dee at home; Stepsons, Wayne Wheatley of Salida, Colorado, Virgil Wheatley of Auburn, Washington, and Bruce Wheatley of Tacoma, Washington; daughter Mrs. Janet Rentfrow of Effingham, and 17 grandchildren.
He also leaves 2 brothers, Charles Lorentz of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Henry Lorentz of Decatur; and four sisters, Mable Asbury of Alton, Elizabeth Smith of Rockwood, Anna Warren of Illmo, Missouri, and Esther Hockersmith of Scott City, Missouri.
