He was the owner of Bill Wilson Auto Sales, former owner of WMVA Radio Station. Producer of R and M Records, He was the current District Five president of the Virginia Independent Automobile Dealers Association where he had held numerous positions in both the state and national levels. He was involved in multiple church organizations, and was of the Baptist Faith. He was the sound technician for the Gospel Land Quartet, Celebrations, Revelations, and Ambassadors, during his time with the Christian musical groups he annually toured in New York state. He was a former member of the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department, the Martinsville and Henry County Chamber of Commerce, the Fontain Ruritan Club. He was involved with the ASA Super Mini-Cup series, Relay for Life, Reminder Missions, Tract Ministry, Part-Owner of Wards Garage, and an avid Race fan. He owned multiple real estate properties throughout Martinsville and Henry County. He was a board member of the Salvation Army. He was an originator of the Don't Drink and Drive Message, setting a wrecked car on the corner lot, to demonstrate the dangers of drinking and driving.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife Linda R. Wilson of the home, three daughters Deborah Wilson Hipkins of St. Cloud, Florida, Pamela Wilson Hudson of Martinsville and Lisa Lynne Wilson of Axton, 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, brother Jimmy A. Wilson of Ridgeway and four sisters Janette W. Hunt of Wilksboro, NC, Carol W. Bowers of Raleigh, N.C., Bessie W. Kendrick of Greensboro, N.C., Peggy W. Carter of Charlottesville.
The funeral service was conducted at the First Baptist Church of Ridgeway with Rev. Gary Edwards and Rev. Tom Wilson officiating, with the burial in the Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway, VA.
