Mildred Rose Lederer, 91, of Newport, Ky. died Saturday May 1, 1999. at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas, Ky.


She is survived by sons, Val "Bud" Lederer of Alexandria. Ky.; Robert F. Lederer of Cincinnati, OH; Gary Lederer of Alexandria. Ky.; and Donald Lederer of Hillsboro; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Lederer; father. Frank Sarbeck; mother, Catherine Sarbeck; and a grandson, James Lederer.


Mrs. Lederer was a homemaker but very active in her community. She was a volunteer nurse's aide at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas, a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Alexandria Fire Department and Alexandria Chapter #337 Order of Eastern Star, but she was well known for her dedication to the youth of Alexanfriars, one of the originators in the early 1950's of the Friday Nite Canteens that were held at the elementary school, high school cafeteria, then the firehouse for over 30 years and was known as "Mom Lederer" to the kids that attended.


Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Alexandria Funeral Home, 325 Washington St., Alexandria, Ky. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 7:30 p.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church, Alexandria. Officiating will be Rev. Jim Egbers of St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Alexandria Cemetery, Alexandria.
