New Philadelphia Man Believed Killed By Train


The body of Francis Schneider, middle-aged New Philadelphia WPA worker, was found lying along the Reading Co. railroad tracks between Middleport and New Philadelphia at 6:20 o'clock this morning by Russell Moyer, a section hand. Badly crushed, Schneider had apparently been struck by a train while walking home last night after spending several hours at Middleport.


Schneider is survived by his wife, six children and his parents.

Francis Schneider - The funeral of Francis Schneider, New Phila. resident, who was struck and critically injured by a night train Monday as he was walking home along the Reading Co. tracks from Middleport, was held Thursday morning. Mass was celebrated in the Holy Family Church by Father Grogan, who also performed the burial ritual at the grave in the cemetery.
