Mrs. Sarah J. McNerlin, died at her home in Hares Valley, near Saltillo, Saturday, June 18th, after a lingering illness from a complication of diseases, aged 70 years, eight months and twenty-four, days. Deceased was the daughter of James and Hannah Bard, deceased.

She was thrice married. Her first husband was Eli W. Long, and to this union were born the following children: Hiram J. Long, of Sugar Grove; Herbert J. Long, of Hill Valley; Mrs. James McElwee (Anna Long), of Huntingdon; Harry F. Long, of Mill Creek; and John D. Long, deceased.

Her second marriage was to Henry Dell, and three children were born to this union, as follows: Anthony O. Dell, of Mount Union; Mrs. Benjamin Secrest (Mary Grace) Newton Hamilton; and Mrs. Benjamin Earl Park (Sarah Henrietta) of Smith Valley.

Her third married was to William H. McNerlin and for the past twenty years they have resided in Hares Valley. Her husband and six step-children survive: Emory McNerlin, of Newton Hamilton; Gilbert McNerlin, of Williamsburg; Mrs. Edward Leeper, or Burnham; Mrs. Lee Dell, of Saltillo; Orris McNerlin, of Woodvale; and Mrs. Herbert Knepp, of Burnham.

Also surviving are two sisters. Mrs. Hannah Treece, of Aitch, and Mrs. Rhoda Parson of Mount Union.

Five years ago Mrs. McNerlin suffered a stroke of paralysis, since which time she has been unable to perform the duties of her home. Four months ago heart trouble and dropsy developed, and her condition has been critical during this time. All was done that loving hands could do to make her comfortable. Mrs. McNerlin was a good wife and a loving mother, and was highly respected in her home community.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 2: 30 in the Church of the Brethren in Hill Valley, where she has been a faithful member for the past forty-three years, in charge of Rev. George Swayne, of Shirleysburg, and Rev. W. J. Swigart, of Huntingdon. Interment was made in the Germany Valley Cemetery. Funeral director, Myron McClain, of Cassville.
