The deceased was born Nov. 25, 1900 in Germany Valley, Shirley Township, a son of Howard and Alice (McGarvey) Peterson. He was united in marriage on Jan. 1, 1924 at the Orbisonia Methodist Parsonage to Mary Park of Three Springs.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by these children: Duane Russell Peterson, Martinsburg, W.Va.; Mrs. Doyle (Delores) Watkins, Cassville, Mrs. George (Eleanor) Barrick, Rockhill Furnace; Dale Gerald Peterson, Three Springs; Mrs. Chauncey (Geraldine) Harrison, Plainsfield, Neb.; Guy Lewis Peterson, U.S. Marine Corps, Camp Lejeune, N.C. Twelve grandchildren and one brother, C. Roy Peterson, Cresaptown, Md., also survive. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Peterson was a faithful member of the Three Springs First Baptist Church. He was a deacon and trustee of the church and a member of the Parish Council of Churches.
He was employed by the North American Refractories Company at Mount Union until seven years ago when he retired due to disability.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Three Springs. His pastor, the Rev. Marvin E. Yost and the Rev. Charles Rhodes, pastor of the Three Springs EUB Church, will officiate and interment, directed by the Ott funeral service of Orbisonia, will be in the Three Springs Cemetery. Friends will be received at the late home, Three Springs, R.D. 1, until 11 a.m. Tuesday, and at the church from noon until the hour for the services.
