Benjamin W. Peightal, 61, former Maine Central freight and passenger conductor and the past 10 years engineer for the Casco Bay Light & Power Company, died this morning in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joseph Murphy, 66 Munjoy Street. In failing health many months, he was critically ill since January.
Born at Huntingdon, Jan. 6, 1880, Mr. Peightal came to Portland 37 years ago. After service in the railroad he was engineer for Commercial Street concerns before locating at Peaks Island. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen.
Surviving besides Mrs. Murphy and his widow, Mrs. May Clary Peightal, also of this City, is another daughter, Mrs. Arthur Lindberg of Neshanic, N. J.; and a son, Benjamin W. Peightal, Jr., of Peaks Island.
