William A. Nearhood, Sr., 47, of PO Box 104 Shirleysburg died unexpectedly at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec 21, 1986 at the Altoona General Hospital.
Born Oct 23, 1939, in Huntingdon, he was the son of Latimore and Lola (Dell) Nearhood. On Dec 6, 1961, he was united in marriage to Jean Ruby.
His wife survives as well as his mother, Mrs. Charles (Lola) Butler of Mapleton, R.D.1, his grandmother, Nettie Dell of Mapleton Depot, and his companion, Jennie Spennati with whom he resided.
Also surviving are the following children: William A. Nearhood Jr., Marilyn L. Nearhood and Billie Ragene Nearhood, all of Newton Hamilton and Penny Jo Spennati of Shirleysburg. The following were raised in his home and survive: Robert D. Spennati, Tina Marie Guyer and Duane E. Spennati, all of Shirleysburg and Marie Stever of Live Oak, FL. There are eight grandchildren.
Two sisters and one brother survive: Mrs. Gerald (Judy) Glunt and Denver James Nearhood, both of Three Springs, and Mrs. James (Doris) Porch of Grandville. One step sister, Kim Butler also survives.
Mr. Nearhood was of the Methodist faith. He was a foreman with the Circle M. Construction in Auburn for 19 years.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec 24 at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union. The Rev. Bruce Grove and the Rev. David Miller will officiate. Interment will be made in the Three Springs Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 today and after 9 a.m. tomorrow.
