Robert Earl "Mike" Mort, 59, a prominent Three Springs business man, died Friday, June 16, 1978, at 10:45 a.m. at the Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg. He had been ill for the past two weeks.
He was born August 14, 1918 at Six Mile Run, Bedford County, a son of George W. and Effie (Ramsey) Mort. He was united in marriage to Olive Black of Three Springs on September 19, 1947, the ceremony being performed at Three Springs.
His wife survives, along with one daughter Miss Sherry Mort of Saxton R.D. 1.
Seven brothers and sisters survive: Arthur Mort, Round Knob, Alfred Mort, Orbisonia; Mrs. Esther Figard, Round Knob; Mrs. Clara Wible, Three Springs; Mrs. Naoma Chamberlain and Mrs. Anzinetta Hullihen, both of Wilkes-Barre; and Mrs. Lucille Carberry, Baltimore, Md. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Mort was of the Protestant.
He had owned and operated Mort's Arco service station in Three Springs for 21 years, and for the past two and half years had been proprietor of Mort's Hardware in Three Springs.
He was a veteran of World War II, and belonged to Madden-Winnick Post 518, American Legion, Orbisonia and to Standing Stone Post 1754, VFW, Huntingdon. He was a life member of the Three Springs Area Volunteer Fire Company and belonged to the Huntingdon County Association. He was a member of the Three Springs Cemetery Association.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 20, at 2 p.m. from the Raymond W. Ott funeral home, Orbisonia. The Rev. Ashley L. Horner, pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church, Three Spring will officiate. Interment will be made in Three Springs Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 9 o'clock and on Tuesday until the hour of the services. The Three Springs Area Volunteer Fire Company will conduct memorial services at the funeral home at 7:45 p.m. today.
