LARKIN THOMAS LANE, 85, of Rockhill Furnace, died at the home of his son, Richard Lane, on Wednesday evening, June 11, 1947, after an extended illness.
Born in Clay Township on October 3, 1861, he was a son of Abraham and Eveline (Wagner) Lane. His wife, the former Ida B. Thompson preceded him in death. Eight children survive: Zola Hoffman, Niles, OH; Maude Hoffman, Saltillo, PA, Bessie Wagner and Herbert Lane, Wood, PA; Harry Lane, Akron, OH; Ruth Thorp, Waynesboro, PA, Paul Lane, Baltimore, MD; and Richard Lane, Rockhill Furnace, PA. Others surviving are: two sisters, Mrs. Alda Postlethewaite, Altoona, PA, and Mrs. Rilla Lamberson, NY; 32 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Mr. Lane had been active until 5 years ago.
He made his home with his son in Rockhill Furnace for the past 11 years. He attended the Church of the Brethren and the Nazarene Church in Rockhill Furnace. The funeral services will be held in the Richard Lane home on Saturday at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Martin Scholten of the Church of the Brethren will officiate. Interment will be made in the Three Springs Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Lane home from Friday afternoon until time of services.
