BEAM, Thelma J. Thelma Jewell Beam, 81, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on June 23, 2017 in Chandler, Arizona.

She was born on October 18, 1935 in Paintsville, Kentucky to Wallace and Nora Blanton (Bragg).

Preceded in death by her sister, Christine Wells, two brothers, Phillip Blanton and Richard Blanton, nephew, Charles Wells and two children, Mary Christine Cales (Michael) and James (Bo) J. Beam.

Survived by: One brother, Adron L. Blanton (Betty) of Lewisburg, Ohio, four children, Ronald K. Butcher, (Samantha) Tommie J. Deitering, (Charles), Jamie L. Krull, (Dave) Helen(Heidi) L. Pepiot, (David). Grandchildren: Michael Cales, (Alicia) Jason Harris (Tiffany), Christina Bailey, (Jason) Sarah Deitering, (David Potts) Francine Krull, Mitchell Krull, Samantha Couch, (Andrew) and Sydney Deitering. Great Grandchildren: Emily and Anna Peck, Aiden, Makenna & Anderson Cales, Camryn & Addison Harris Nephew; Robert Wells, Niece; Sherrie Jones (Blanton) Great Niece; Kerry, (Eliza) Bajsicka (Jones).

Thelma valued education and learning. She demonstrated this as a nontraditional student when she became a Registered Nurse. She worked at Grandview Medical Center in Dayton for many years and retired from the Dayton Veterans Medical Center. During her tenure at the VA Hospital she was a critical care RN and received the high honored Heart in Hands award for the care she delivered to the veterans. She could always be counted on for practical advice and support to anyone in need. She was known for her wisdom, strength and no nonsense approach to getting things done. She was loved and respected by many and will be greatly missed. As a mother, grandmother and great grandmother she was a tower of strength. She was also a dedicated, loving sister and Aunt Thelma. She was our anchor to the world and was cherished immeasurably. She will be sorely missed only to remain in our hearts lovingly forever.

Funeral services will be held privately at the gravesite, Forest Hills Memorial Gardens 11890 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp city, Ohio 45371. Donations can be sent to Hospice of the Valley.
