Gary Surinck, 87, of St. Clair Shores, MI, passed away on November 13, 2023. Gary was born on April 3, 1936 to the late Charles and Violet Surinck (nee Lesperance). Throughout life, Gary was charismatic, and a charmer. This led him to become class president of his high school graduating class at Nativity High School. This job would have him planning his future class reunions, with the help of his daughter and daughter-in-law, he was always very proud of the reunions he was able to pull off. After high school, Gary went on to serve in the United States Army, earning himself a Good Conduct Medal. He was a proud veteran, and always loved to share stories of his time in the service with his family. Gary was also a stand-up citizen, performing meritorious police work for the benefit of his community. After Gary returned home from the Army, he married the love of his life, Roberta, and started his own family. He worked to provide for his family, being a Union Steward for Detroit Edison most of his career. He negotiated contracts, and dedicated his time to making positive changes in the workplace. When he retired, Gary was able to focus on the little things in life. He enjoyed golf and bowling. Being the wine connoisseur he was, he loved going out to restaurants to try different types of his favorite wine, which was a cabernet sauvignon. He loved his family, taking whatever free time he had to spend time with them, and being the best grandpa he could be. His distinct laugh will forever be missed by those who knew it. Gary was a light in this world, and will be greatly missed.

Gary is survived by his beloved children, Anne- Elizabeth Rouhib (Louis) and James Joseph Surinck; loving grandchildren, Heather Butcher (David); loving great- grandchildren, Maximus Butcher and Olivia Butcher; daughter-in-law, Beth Surinck, and sister, Dawn Surinck.
