Husband of Lady Anne Linsay Barnard. Before his marriage to Anne, he had two sons ( Henry and Andrew) with Margaret Coghlan ( 1763- 1805). He was son of Thomas Barnard (c. 1726/28–1806) who was an Anglican clergyman that served in the Church of Ireland as Bishop of Killaloe and Kilfenora (1780–1794) and Bishop of Limerick, Ardfert and Aghadoe (1794–1806).
