Florence Harris 88 of Berkley passed away Wednesday October 11, 2023.

She was born in Linden, lived in Roselle before moving to Berkeley Twp. in 1995. She was the benefits counselor at the Veterans Hospital in East Orange New Jersey for 18 years. She was an avid volunteer in her community, including being passionate about her role as a Eucharistic Minister and bereavement counselor.

Her home was always welcoming to family, friends, and neighbors. Florence dearly loved her 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was proud of her Slovak heritage and enjoyed teaching it to her children and grandchildren creating many family traditions.

She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years Alfred G. Harris JR, son Kenneth Michael Harris and daughter Susan Ann DiMaggio. She is survived by her sons and their families, Alfred G Harris III (Melanie), their children and grandchildren, Timothy P Harris (Marybeth), their children, Ronald P Harris (Cathy) and their children.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday October 17, 2023 at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. A funeral mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday October 18, 2023, at St. Maximillian Kolbe RC Church 130 St. Maximilian Lane Toms River, NJ 08757. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery 350 Provinceline Road Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
