Calling hours will begin 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. A private family interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.
Carol was born June 9, 1941, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Gilbert Dale and Mary Elisabeth (Statler) Lance. She attended school at Grant Country School through eighth grade and graduated from Washington High School in 1959. Carol was united in marriage to Pete Bell on March 26, 1961, in Washington, Iowa.
Carol lived most of her life in Washington County. She enjoyed helping her husband with the family farm operation. Carol worked at Washington State Bank for almost 50 years. Carol was a member of the United Methodist Church, where she was the church organist for many years. Carol was an accomplished seamstress and especially enjoyed making quilts. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Pete Bell; son, Lance (Kerri) Bell; two daughters, Billa (Kenny) Armstrong and Jeanne McCabe; six grandchildren, Ellie Bell and Sophie Bell; Kati Armstrong-Brock and husband, Matt; Kelsi Uthe and husband, Nick; Delaney McCabe and Dylan McCabe; five great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Colton Uthe; Aiden Davis; Olivia and Gage Brock; three sisters, Alice (Don) Cordts, Connie (Mike) Mineart, Judy Nelson.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her son-in-law, Bill McCabe; and brother-in-law, Ty Nelson.
