Grocery Manager

Abe Aaronson, 73, a grocery manager at the Brookeville Supermarket in Chevy Chase for the last 25 years, died of pancreatic cancer May 24 at his home in Silver Spring. He had lived in the Washington area since 1937.

Mr. Aaronson was a native of Baltimore.

He served in the Army in Europe during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star.

After the war, he was owner of the Capital Delicatessen and the Buy and Sell shop, both on Seventh Street NW.

From 1950 to 1968, he owned the Kentucky and D Market in Southeast Washington.

Mr. Aaronson was a Mason, a fund-raiser for the National Children's Center and a member of the Jewish War Veterans, the Travelers Protective Association and Agudath Achim Congregation in Washington.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Aaronson of Silver Spring; two children, Wendy Aaronson of Rockville and Howard Aaronson of Gaithersburg; a brother, Henry Aaronson of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Alice Aaronson of Silver Spring and Lillian Neviaser of Silver Spring; and two grandchildren.
