Denny Lee Johnson, 82, of Dix, Illinois, passed away at 6:20 am, Thursday, May 25, 2023 at his home. He was born January 20, 1941 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to James Denzil and Clysta Elizabeth (Voyles) Johnson. After his father passed away when he was 10 years old, he was raised by his step-father, Jim Terry. On October 21, 2006 he married Donna Hays and she survives. Denny attended Dodds Grade School and graduated from Mount Vernon Township High School in 1959. He was a member of Landmark Church in Mount Vernon and was a veteran of the United States Army, stationed in
Anchorage, Alaska.
In addition to his wife, Donna Johnson, he is survived by three sons, Jeffery Johnson and wife Denise, Chris Johnson and wife, Shelia and Bartley Johnson and wife, Melissa; two step-sons; two step-daughters; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister Frances(Johnson) Bravard and husband, Ray of Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alice Faye (Johnson) Sellers, Elizabeth Maxine (Johnson) Hayes, Deloris Johnson Terry and half-sibling, infant Wayman Roberts, Jr.
