Adeline S. Jensen passed away 6 November 2006 at the age of 88. She was born at home in Grandview, the youngest child of William F. Stroschien and Bertha Wilhelmina Youger Stroschien.

She was raised on the farm and learned at an early age that everyone had chores, some of those meant taking a herd of sheep out to the flats to graze and working in the fields. Being the only daughter still at home, she was her mother's help in the kitchen. All the farm hands had to be fed three meals a day, (the good old days) as Adeline called them.

She attended Grandview Grade School, a mile and a half from her home. A walk that she and two older brothers did every day. She said in the winter if the snow was too deep, she often rode a horse to get there and to stay warm. The school had a stable as other children rode too. Her high school years took her to Blackfoot. She boarded out and later lived with her sister who was a teacher at the high school. She met her future husband there, a farmer's son from Groveland, Paul Jensen. They were married at the end of her senior year, 10 May 1936. There three children born to this union, Bertha Darlene, Paul Gordon, and Denis Sherrill.

As a young couple, they moved many times and worked at a variety of jobs. They settled in Salmon around 1944 with Paul working in the sawmill for Hank Benson. Adeline worked at several local businesses, all the while taking care of her growing family. Paul passed away in 1957. Adeline married Oliver Marsing--they later divorced around 1959-1960.

Adeline entered nursing classes being taught at Steele Memorial Hospital. She attained her LPN license and spent the next 25 years working at the hospital. She joined the LPN Nurse's Association and served as president for a term. She said it was more work than taking care of a patient, but enjoyed the people and the friends she made. When she left the hospital she went to work at the nursing home in Salmon and in West Linn, Oregon. She tried retiring but didn't care for the quiet. She went into private nursing and when her sister, Violet, became ill she brought her to her home to care for her until Violet passed away.

In 1994 Adeline became ill with heart trouble. By 1999 her health was worrisome enough that her daughter came to be with her. In November 2006, Darlene moved her mother to her home in Vancouver, Washington until her death.

Adeline was prededed in death by her parents; two sisters; five brothers; her husband, Paul and one grandchild. She is survived by her children, Darlene Jones, Paul (Ellen), Denis (Linda); nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Private burial was held later (June) in the Salmon Cemetery under the direction of Salmon River Funeral Chapel.
