Johnnie Lee Goodwin, 69, of Franklinton passed away on December 22, 2022. He was born on January 4, 1953, the son of the late Eddie Lee and Frances Wood Goodwin. In addition to his parents, Johnnie was predeceased by his wife of fifty years, Shelby Tippett Goodwin; and his brothers, Michael Delrow Goodwin, William Stanley Goodwin, and Marty Goodwin.

Johnnie is survived by his son, Bernie Goodwin (Melody); his daughter Sherry Barham (Chris); seven grandchildren, Dylan Barham, Zachary Barham (Melissa), Kristen Mulder (Justin), Cesar Barham, Raul Barham, Savana Mitchell, Michaela Mitchell; five great-grandchildren, Grayson, Raelynn, Adalee, Baylee, and Hannah; and his brother, Eddie Goodwin.

Johnnie graduated from Franklinton High School with the class of 1971. He and Shelby were both strong in their faith and members at New Beginnings Church of God of Prophecy. Johnnie enjoyed spending time on the lake, as well as his interests in classic cars, but most notably he was known for playing music. His grandchildren were the light of his life.

A celebration of Johnnie's life will be held at 3:00pm on Monday, December 26, 2022 at New Beginnings Church of God of Prophecy, 14 Fairlane Ave. Franklinton, NC 27525, with Pastors Roy Stallings and Spencer Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service in the church's fellowship hall from 2:00-2:45pm
