Shirleye was born on August 11, 1925 in Tarpon Springs, FL and was the daughter of the late James William and Lena Mae (Rich) Jackson. She married her husband Alonzo Everett Lane, Jr. on August 28, 1942 and moved to Clearwater, FL on September 1942.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a charter member of Skycrest Baptist Church. She was the mother advisor Rainbow Girls, Clearwater Chapter and DeMolay Mother's Club. She moved to Hernando, FL and lived on the Withlacoochee River.
She worked at On Top of the World in Ocala where she was the Activity Director for 15 years retiring in 1995. Shirleye moved to Inverness in 2001 and was a Charter Member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter Evelyn Louise "Lovey" Byrer.
She is survived by her son, Alonzo Everett "Lon" Lane, III and his wife Marcia and grandchildren Chad Byrer, Tera Hall and her husband Todd, Alonzo Everett Lane, IV and his wife Lauren, Stewart Lane and his wife Emily. Also surviving are her great grandchildren Gavin Garulay, Aiden Byrer , Evelyn Lane and Catherine Lane.
