Joe Richard Jones "Richie", age 81, formerly of Knoxville and currently a resident of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away December 5, 2022 at Johnson City Medical Center. He was a graduate of Young High School and a member of Southwestern Baptist Church in Johnson City. He enjoyed watching sports, riding motorcycles and listening to Elvis Presley music. Richie worked as a salesman in the textile business for more than sixty years beginning his career with Levi Strauss in Maryville, Tennessee followed by a plant manager position in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1970 he worked for Threads Incorporated as a salesman through 1991 when he founded his own company Industrial Thread Sales.
Preceded in death by wife, Dorothy Jones and parents Joe and Helen Jones.
Those left to cherish his memory are son, Mike Jones and wife, Jane; daughter, Lisa Hodge and husband, Tim; brother, Gary Jones and wife Nonie; grandchildren, Haley Eggers and husband, Trevor, Laken Jones and PFC Joe Jones.
The family will receive friends from 11-1pm, Friday, December 9, 2022 in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy., Knoxville, TN 37920. A Celebration of Life service to follow at 1 pm. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Jones, Tim Hodge, Trevor Eggers and Scott Young.
