Joe Stephen "Steve" Mayberry, 73, of Statesville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022, at Gordon Hospice House.

Steve was born June 18, 1949, in Iredell County, to the late Bill and Pearl Moose Mayberry. He retired after more than four decades of employment from Rental Uniform Services. When not working, he enjoyed spending his time on the golf course, at various sporting events cheering on his grandchildren, tending to his garden, playing cards and hosting cookouts.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Dagenhart; three brothers, Craig, Eddie and T.R. Mayberry; and two brothers-in-law, David Moose and Steve Dagenhart.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Jody (August) and Randall (Christina) Mayberry; daughter, Cherilyn (Terry) Davis; sister, Judy Moose; brother, Jerry (Bonnie) Mayberry; sister-in-law, Donna Mayberry; granddaughter, Storm (Ryan) Earnhardt; three grandsons, Kaleb, Konor and Karson Davis; and one very special great-granddaughter, Sutton Earnhardt. Steve will also be greatly missed at the breakfast table by a special group of men known as "The Rental Guys."

Mr. Mayberry will lie in state at Nicholson Funeral Home from 1 to 5 p.m., Monday, Oct. 31, and from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 1, at Marvin United Methodist Church Cemetery, 671 Marvin Church Ct. in Stony Point.
