Terrance Lee "Terry" Mires, 82, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 15, 2022. Terry is the eldest son of the late Elmer and Marjorie (Fitzgerald) Mires. He was born on November 12, 1939 in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Terry was united in marriage on April 19, 1986 to Betty J. Farmer, and they spent the next 36 years happily together. Terry was a proud Veteran having served in the United States Navy as a Propulsion Electrician. He was employed for over 40 years in a variety of mechanical and electrical supervisory positions in his tenure with Union Pacific Railroad, Morrison Knudsen, National Railway, and then retiring from Indiana Southern Railroad as the Chief Mechanical/Electrical Officer.
Terry was a loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and brother-in-law, who will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
Terry is survived by his wife, Betty Mires of Petersburg, IN; his children, Gary Mires of Salt Lake City, Utah, Sharie Jamieson of Australia, Candie (David) Robinson of North Dakota, Laura Farmer of Switzerland, Kathy (Corey) Ziebach of Petersburg, Nancy (Ryan) Feeney of Washington, Patricia Frederick of Petersburg, Patrick (Regina) Farmer of Winslow, and Carolyn (Cody) Zimmerman of Petersburg; 23-grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren; his brother Burton "Butch" (Mary Jane) Mires of McCook, Nebraska, a sister Janice "Jan" Tolly; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Marjorie Mires; a brother-in-law, William "Bill" Tolly; a daughter, Mary J. Farmer Brigham; and a son-in-law, Michael K. Frederick.
Friends may visit from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. EST on Saturday, May 21, 2022. A funeral service with military honors will be held at the chapel at 5 P.M. EST. He will be laid to rest at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Petersburg, IN.
