MERRITT ISLAND – Deborah Louise Curry Smith, 63 passed away on November 6, 2020 in Merritt Island where she lived. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas "Bradley" and Louise Curry.

Debbie was born in Newport News. The family moved to Indian Harbour Beach in 1958 and Merritt Island in 1964. She graduated Merritt Island High School, Merritt Island. Being on the homecoming court three years in a row was one of the highlights of her life. Debbie received her Bachelor of Arts in Music and Master of Business Administration at Meredith College, Raleigh. Debbie was an accomplished piano major who advanced into the Romantic Era, amazingly playing Debussy (her nickname), Chopin, Brahms, Tchaikovsky and MacDowell for her Senior Recital. Debbie began her career at Telex in the Research Triangle Park as an International Marketing Administrator. Debbie's life transitioned into motherhood in the 80s and 90s, raising three children and teaching piano in her beautiful home. She loved her children, family, friends, music, nature, fishing, gardening, cooking and writing poetry. Debbie loved the beach and mountains. Debbie was also an accomplished equestrian who could not resist rescuing dogs in need of better homes.

Debbie is survived by her children, a sister, a brother, a brother-in-law and a nephew. Donations may be made to The Brevard Humane Society.
