Olaug was born on May 14, 1907 in Narvik, Norway, to Magnus and Dagny Rødtang. She was baptized on September 8, 1907. Olaug was the beloved sister of Asmund, Ranveig, Margot, Gladys and Inger. She also had another sister, Seigfriid, whom she never got to meet. Olaug died of a thoracic tumor on July 18, 1917, at the age of 10, in Narvik, and was laid to rest at the Narvik Old Cemetery.
