COAL CITY—Raymond L. Tira, 69, of Coal City, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022 at his residence. He was born on Jan. 25, 1953 in Joliet to John J. and Mary (nee Galbraith) Tira. He was a graduate of Joliet Junior College and Illinois State University with a degree in Business Administration/Industrial Technology. He was a hard worker and a master mechanic. Ray worked for various area manufacturers. He enjoyed gardening and waterfowl hunting in his earlier years with his good friend, Douglas J. Baker. He is survived by his sister, Marilyn A. Tira; two brothers, John M. Tira and James J. Tira; his four nephews: Patrick R. (Sarah) Tira, John M. (Tara) Tira Jr., Daniel M. (Megan ) Tira and Michael O. (fiancé Kathryn Steffes) Tira; and his five great-nephews and great-nieces: Patrick Tira Jr., Russell (Rusty) Tira, Alice Tira, Claire Tira and Kaia Tira. Also surviving are numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Mary Tira. Cremation rites have been accorded. Preferred memorials may be made in Raymond's name to the donor's choice. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
