Dickie was born on December 20, 1946 in Richmond, Va. to Richard Earl and Jane Christine Mayton. He received his Associate's Degree from Smithdeal-Massey Business College in 1968 and proudly served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1972. He worked in the finance industry until retirement at which time he began volunteering his time with Jamestown Rediscovery.
Dickie's compassion and love of helping others was second to none. He loved history and learning new things and was an avid adventurist who enjoyed skiing, flying, riding his motorcycle, and fishing. He had a strong connection with Jamestown, traveling there monthly with his daughter Kalli during her school years and proceeding to volunteer much of his time there both in the lab and on site as an interpreter in his later years, continuing to spread his wisdom.
Dickie was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Jane; and his infant brother. He is survived by his daughter, Kalli and her husband, Ethen; as well as several aunts and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Jamestown Rediscovery in Dickie's memory are appreciated. Their address is 1365 Colonial Parkway, Williamsburg, Va. 23185.
