Basil Eugene 'Gene' McCarty, of Bolivar passed away after a long illness and he now rests with the angels. He was 66 years, 9 months, and 14 days of age.
Gene was born on March 8, 1940 in Polk County, Missouri the son of Basil E. McCarty and Margaret Ann Mitchell McCarty.
He was a retired farmer and local business man for many years. He was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church at Huron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret A. McCarty and Basil E. McCarty and two step-sons, Kenny Lipe and Denny Lipe.
Gene was the beloved husband of Laqueta McCarty of the home, and the beloved father of Mark Eugene McCarty of Fair Grove, MO and Kim Jerome McCarty and wife Shelly of Marshfield, MO; Gene was also the beloved brother of Mary Berlin of Bolivar, MO and Beverly Heflin of Garland, TX. Also the beloved grandfather of Jarod McCarty, Derek McCarty, Kevin McCarty, Blake McCarty and Pashia McCarty, and the beloved great grandfather of Jaiden McCarty. He was also the step-father of Eddie Lipe and family of Springfield, MO; and Ricky Lipe and family of Halfway, MO. Also 14 Step Grandchildren and 8 Step-Great Grandchildren.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Salem Cemetery north of Cliquot with the Rev. James O. Friend officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar. Casketbearers will be: Derek McCarty Rick Lipe, Eddie Lipe, Jarod McCarty, Terry Storment, Robert Hensley
