MADISON - Bertha (Holzhauer) Birkhauser, age 78, of 2845 Grandview Blvd., died on Tuesday, October 11, 1983, at a local hospital. She was born on December 7, 1904, in Magerkingen, Germany and came to the United States In 1918. She later met and married Bernhard Holzhauer in Milwaukee, who preceded her in death in 1946. She met and married Clarence F. Birkhauser In 1959, who also preceded her in death In 1973. She was employed as a chef for the Old Heidelburg Restaurant In Milwaukee until it's closing. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was very active in it's women's groups. Survivors include a step-son, Robert R. Birkhauser of Madison; five grandchildren, Diane Sykora and Craig and Donna Holzhauer, all of California, and Jo Greenhaigh and Robert R. Birkhauser III, both of Madison; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Walter Holzhauer In 1964. Funeral services will be held at ST. JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1905 West Beltline Hwy, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18. Father Bernard Brunette will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, October 17, at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road in Madison, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.
