Anita Marie Ford-Halterman was born to Charlotte Elizabeth Ford and Richard Halterman on February 14th, 1946 in Des Moines Iowa.

Anita has 4 children, John (Shawnda) Worthington, Desiree (Darrell) Jones, Charla (Bill) Garnes and Tory (Roxane) Worthington.

14 Grandchildren – Tyler, Gaylan, Austin and Wyatt (John), Trevor and Stacia (Desiree), Dakota, Brooke and Kendra (Charla), Andrew, Ryan, Jacob, Alison and Kash (Tory).

8 Great Grandchildren, Aylin (Gaylan), Charlotte (Austin), Nova Rae (Wyatt), Peanut (Stacia), Brayden and Baylee (Dakota) and Bryson (Andrew).

Anita was a testament of what true love is. She loved unconditionally and she loved fiercely. Her grandchildren were a huge part of her life. They counted on her to be their rock in difficult times, their comforter during times of sorrow and their mentor during times of decision making. She never judged them or made them feel less than. She just loved them all!

Anita loved to share random facts even if they weren't really facts. If you tried to correct her "factual information" she would argue relentlessly.

She loved to play scrabble with her kids and grandkids. Puzzles were also a favorite pastime of hers.

She enjoyed her life alone in the country. Before her COPD advanced, she would go on vacations with her sister LaRae or go to stay with her in the cabin. Mom loved spending as much time as she could with LaRae.

Mom was a strong and determined woman. She could be onery at times, but for the most part she was a witty, amazingly independent, beautiful, caring woman of Faith.

She raised us 4 kids with barely enough to get by, but she did it! She had a lot of hardships in her life but she always persevered. She took great pride in owning her home and property.

Mom enjoyed the simple things in life, and she wanted her funeral arrangements to be simple as well. Her request was to not have a funeral where someone got up and spoke about her but instead to have simple visitation for family and friends to come say their goodbyes and gain some sort of closure. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.

Preceding her in death is her eldest son John Worthington, her mother and father as well as her two brothers Frank and Richard Halterman.

Left to honor her memory are her 3 children, 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, her sister LaRae (Ted) Gruening as well as many nieces and nephews.

Whenever you told her you loved her, she would always tell you she loved you more. So today mom, we get to say we all love you more!
