Elliott Clayton Herrin III, age 68, of Irondale, passed away peacefully at home on August 27, 2021.

Clayton is survived by his wife of 46 years, Phylis (Thoni) Herrin, and his son, Elliott Clayton Herrin IV. Clayton married Phylis on August 23rd, 1975.

He was preceded in death by his son, Philip Thomas Herrin (1994-1995), and his father, Elliott Clayton (EC) Herrin, Jr. (1930-2015)

He is also survived by his mother, Mary Daly Herrin, sisters Linda Herrin Bradley and Suzanne Herrin Wilder (Robert) and brother Karl David Herrin (Kim), as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Clayton graduated from Shades Valley High School, attended the University of Montevallo, and graduated from Samford University.

He was deeply devoted to his family, loved everything about trains, enjoyed woodworking, and was a lifelong Auburn fan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jimmy Hale Mission or in Clayton's memory to the charity of your choice.

A graveside service will be held at Forest Crest Cemetery, 5730 Bankhead Hwy., Irondale, on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 2 pm.
