JOE HALEY STUCKER, 87, of Fort Wayne, Ind., peacefully passed away in his sleep Monday, June 14, 2021, at home. He had been at home for the last month in the care of Parkview Hospice and his family since May 13, 2021, after a diagnosis of terminal liver failure. Being at home allowed visits with all of his family and loved ones, and "we cherish the time we had with him." He kept his sense of humor throughout. The family will forever be grateful for the wonderful care he received from his whole care team at Parkview Hospital and Parkview Hospice. Joe was born on March 15, 1934, to Lee and Mabel (Jones) Stucker, in the farming community of Ash Hill, Butler County, Mo.

After Joe graduated from Fisk High School, Butler County, Mo. in 1953, he married Mary Ellen Lockamy on Oct. 25, 1954, before serving in the U.S. Army for two years and being stationed in Japan for 16 months. Upon his discharge from the Army, he pursued a degree in Bookkeeping at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo. After graduation, he worked for International Harvester for over 27 years. His job with IH led him to move his family to Illinois, New Jersey, Indiana, and Texas. He finally settled with his wife in Fort Wayne, Ind. After retiring from IH he worked for several years in the Men's Department at Sears-Glenbrook Mall and as a bookkeeper for his son-in-law's veterinary practice, Allpets Animal Hospital, until 2009.

Joe leaves behind his loving family, wife, Mary Ellen (Lockamy) Stucker of Fort Wayne, Ind.; daughters, C. Patrice (Jay - deceased) Kumaran of O'Fallon, Mo., Necia D. (Richard) Annis of Fort Wayne, Ind.; son, Randy J. Stucker of Fort Wayne, Ind.; granddaughters, Aruna S. (Leila) Kumaran Blackbird of Chicago, Ill., Usha R. (Jonathon) Kumaran Quint of O'Fallon, Mo., and Haley D. Annis of Fort Wayne, Ind.; great-granddaughters, Reagan P. Quint and Rani L. Quint, and great-grandsons, Riley J. Quint and Jaia K. Blackbird; and many nieces and nephews.

"We will always remember and miss him for his quiet strength, sense of humor and playfulness, plaid shirts, and big hugs."

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Mabel (Jones) Stucker; siblings, Dorothy (Kenneth - deceased) Barnes, Gladys (Charles - deceased) Crafford, Patricia "Patty" Beaujean, Anna (Robert) Pumphrey, James E. Stucker, Rudolph A. (Sharon - deceased) Stucker, and Adolph R. (Nancy - deceased) Stucker.

Joe's earthly remains are being cremated by the Neptune Society and will be interred at Covington Gardens, Fort Wayne, Ind. at a later date. A Memorial Service is 1 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2021, at First Assembly of God Church, 1400 W. Washington Center Road, Fort Wayne, Ind. Parking is in the main parking lot of the church, with entrance through Door 16. The family will be available to greet visitors beginning at 12:30 p.m., and after the service until 3:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served after the service.
