Jean Van Lare Corteville

Entered into eternal rest on May 26, 2021, at the age of 94. She was born on February 20, 1927 in Williamson, New York. Jean was predeceased by her first husband, William Van Lare; her sister, Betty and her brother, Charles "Chuck" DeZutter.

Jean graduated from SUNY Geneseo in 1949 and taught primary school in Churchville and Naples. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, holding the position of Grand Matron in the Naples Chapter. Jean was a very active member of her church in Vine Valley for many years, picking up her duties effortlessly in the spring after returning from wintering in Florida.
She was a dedicated member of the Garden Club in Vine Valley where she showed her amazing artistic talents with flowers. Jean was also an accomplished seamstress and artist. Everyone who knew Jean admired her kindness, talents and willingness to help. She had such fun playing cards with friends both at home and in Florida. She had a passion for collecting antiques and vintage glass. Jean's most devoted passion, however, was to her family. She kept each and every picture and drawing that any of her grandchildren gave her through the years. She will be greatly missed.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pampered Parents for their loving care.
Her Memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
